Upcoming Events

Here are some announcements for our ward Primary Presidencies:

• The First Presidency has requested that no church meetings be held on Tuesday March 18th & Thursday 20th so adults can attend caucus meetings.

• Secretaries need to turn in quarterly report to Malisa Bowen asap.

• All girls, young women & women age 8 and up are invited to the General Young Women's meeting on Saturday, March 29th at 6:00 p.m. being broadcast at our stake center.
• We are asking Activity Days girls bring 3 dozen cookies per ward.
• We will have invitations for ages 8 and up we hope you will personally distribute

• Mark your calendars for July 19th - our stake primary is in charge of having a float in the Days of '47 Children's Parade.  We would love to involve as many children in our stake as possible. More information to come

• 11 Year Old Scout Leaders need to register for Camp Tracy and report their dates to Stefani Walker. 
• All Scouts leaders need to hold weekly activity.
• Activity Days leaders need to hold bi-monthly activity, but may also meet every week if desired.

This year’s Pinewood Derby is going to be a blast!

Rules

Please review the rules below before building your car to insure that your car will pass inspection.

All cars must be built after May 4, 2013

BODY:

·      The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale shall be considered final.

·      The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches.

·      The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches.

·      The car must have 1 ¾" clearance between the wheels.

·      The car must have 3/8" clearance underneath the body.

·      The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped any way that is desired.

·      No part of the car body, wheels or attachments may protrude in front of the starting peg.

·      No loose material of any kind may be used.

WHEELS:

·     Official BSA wheels must be used. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled, or rounded. (See illustration)

·      All lettering, both inside and outside, must remain and be visible.

·      The fluting and other BSA markings on the outside wheel area must remain visible. Outer wheel surface may be lightly sanded or polished to remove surface imperfections and mold casting burrs, but must not be reshaped in any way.

·      Wheel bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited.

·      At least three wheels must be touching the track.

·      The tread of three wheels must ride flat and not at an angle. (No angling or canting of the wheels)

·      The two rear wheels and the two front wheels must be positioned directly across the body from each another. Staggered wheelbases are not allowed.

AXLES:

·      The axles (nails) supplied with the official BSA kit must be used. No one piece axles.

·      No oils or wet lubricant.

·      The car must not ride on any type of springs.

·      The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices.

INSPECTION:

Each car must pass inspection by the Official Inspection Committee before it may compete. The Inspectors will disqualify any car not meeting these rules. Any adult may appeal the findings of the Inspectors to the Race Committee Chairperson, whose decision is final. After acceptance only race officials will handle the cars.

Cars may be reclassified or disqualified if they are determined by the race officials to not meet these requirements.
